Peacebuilding Foundations eCourse

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our first comprehensive online course: The Foundations of Peacebuilding. This course marks an important step in making professional quality, practical, and accessible peacebuilding training available to practitioners worldwide.

Professional Quality, Practical, and Accessible

For years since we launched Everyday Peacebuilding, I often here some of the same challenges from peacebuilders across the globe. They say things like:

  1. “I have studied peace and conflict, but the information I learn is just not practical”
  2. “I can’t afford to study peace and conflict at the University level and few scholarships are available”

I developed this course to addresses these exact needs.

Who This Course Is For

  • Peacebuilding practitioners seeking practical skills
  • Program managers in NGOs looking to integrate peacebuilding
  • Professionals transitioning into peacebuilding
  • Anyone interested in peace work but lacking formal training

Course Structure and Content

The course is structured around five comprehensive modules:

  • Module 1: On Conflict, Violence and Peace – Master fundamental theories while learning to identify different forms of violence and apply peace concepts to contemporary conflict situations.
  • Module 2: Peacebuilding Theory and Practice – Navigate the complex landscape of peacebuilding actors, systems, and structures while learning to overcome common implementation challenges.
  • Module 3: Practical Applications of Peacebuilding – Develop concrete skills in conflict transformation, inclusive participation, and community-based approaches that you can immediately apply in your context.
  • Module 4: Crosscutting Approaches to Peacebuilding – Learn to integrate critical perspectives including youth engagement, gender analysis, environmental considerations, and humanitarian-development-peace connections.
  • Module 5: Your Peacebuilding Practice – Discover your unique peacebuilding strengths while building sustainable practice through decolonial, demilitarist, and intersectional approaches.

Each module includes video training, practical workbook exercises, case studies, reflection questions, and implementation guidance. Training videos and course materials will be released weekly beginning March 31.

Your Peace-learning Journey

By the end of this course, you will:

  1. Know how to put theory into practice with immediately applicable frameworks
  2. Navigate the world of peacebuilding at international, national, and local levels
  3. Integrate cross-cutting issues like gender, youth, and environment
  4. Build your unique approach using your specific strengths
  5. Join a global community of peacebuilders for support and collaboration
